Former Michelin-starred chef takes new role

Former Michelin-starred chef Alex Aitken has taken on a new chefs job at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa.

Currently running the Jetty restaurant in Christchurch, Dorset, Mr Aitken will oversee the new establishment and create its menu.

Due to reopen in summer 2013 after a £4 million refurbishment, the Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa is a 50-bedroom property that overlooks the Salcombe Estuary and employs many people working in hospitality jobs.

The new-look hotel will feature a spa, restaurant and function room, while the glass frontage will allow guests to the view the nearby waterfront.

Commenting on the alterations, Sarah Daniels from DO Design said: “The new Salcombe Harbour Hotel interiors reflect a simple coastal elegance, drawing inspirations from its stunning Devon location and the days of Colonial Britain. It will feel like part of Devon.”
