Hospitality rising stars awarded

A select group of 25 rising stars in the hospitality industry have been recognised for their efforts by being inaugurated into the Hospitality Guild's Young Hall of Fame.

Big names from the industry, including Brian Turner, Michael Caines, Silvano Giraldin and Fred Sirieix, presented the awards at a bustling event at the House of Commons in London.

The following six Hospitality Guild Apprenticeship Awards were also handed out to: Charlotte Bonser (the Polite Vicar, Spirit Pub Company); Emma Keeling (Ramada Birmingham North, Cannock); Norman MacKenzie (Rhinefield House hotel, Hand Picked Hotels); Lime Wood hotel (SME Employer of the Year); Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants (Large Employer of the Year); Mitchells & Butlers and Babcock International Group (Partnership of the Year).

Minister for Skills Matthew Hancock referred to the huge range of opportunities on offer in catering jobs and other hospitality positions as he opened the awards.

Suzy Jackson, executive director of the Hospitality Guild, added that the awards have been designed to celebrate the achievements of young people in the hospitality industry.
