Michelin star Chefs head to Obsession celebrations

A bounty of Michelin-starred Chefs will be on their way to the north-west early next year for the 15th anniversary of the Obsession event.

Held at the Northcote country house hotel in Langho, Blackburn, the annual bash will see 25 Head Chefs with a combined 27 Michelin stars cooking over the course of 15 consecutive nights.

This year’s gathering has an emphasis on international Chefs with many big names from three Michelin-starred European restaurants travelling to England, including Jacob Jan Boerma from Restaurant De Leest in Holland, Enrico and Roberto Cerea from DaVittorio in Brusaporto, Italy and Klaus Efort from GasteHaus in Saarbrücken, Germany.

Also taking part in the event, which runs from 23rd January to 7th February, will be the two Michelin-starred Phil Howard and Brett Graham, the one Michelin-starred Glynn Purnell, Shaun Rankin, Angela Hartnett and Lisa Allen, and TV Chef Ken Hom.

Obsession’s Chef Patron Nigel Haworth will also take control of the kitchen to host the final night’s events.

He said: “This year I decided it would be great to go global and get chefs from all over the world yet keep it regional. So each chef is cooking a dish using fantastic local ingredients from the north west.

“When we first started this food festival 15 years ago we played it safe. Now we have chefs from all over the world coming to Northcote to cook cutting-edge food. Obsession 15 has a very special line-up and there is a real atmosphere of excitement surrounding it.”

Guests will have to fork out £115 for a ticket which will see them receive a five-course meal as well as a canapé reception and Louis Roederer Brut Premier, while paired wine flights curated by Director of Wine Craig Bancroft and Master Sommelier Adam Pawlowski are also available.
