Rhubarb gains new director of restaurants

Catering company Rhubarb has revealed that it has appointed Romain Pottier to become its new director of restaurants.

The newly created hospitality job will see Pottier join the company’s management team from Sushi Samba London, where he held the role of general manager and oversaw the launch of its new site in Heron Tower.

Pottier’s career so far has seen him gain experience of working in various high end restaurants under high profile chefs including Gordon Ramsey and Alain Ducasse, while he has also recently contributed to the joint ventures between the Morgans Hotel Group/ Kimpton Hotels and China Grill Management.

His new position at Rhubarb, which has recently worked alongside Evolve Hospitality to source its temporary catering staff, will see him assist Helen Bowey, the company’s retail director, on the launch of the new ‘The Sky Garden’ at 20 Fenchurch Street, which is set to open its doors this autumn.

In addition, Pottier will be expected to develop new business opportunities as well as oversee the Gallery Mess restaurant and bar at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London.

Announcing its new appointment, PB Jacobse, managing director at Rhubarb, said: “Romain will support and strengthen our management team as our premium restaurant portfolio expands. He brings significant experience in launching new and developing existing restaurant concepts and will play a pivotal role in our restaurant division. We welcome Romain on board at this exciting time.”

Pottier’s passion for food and wine saw him begin his restaurant career in France in 1998 before moving to London in 2001 to take his place on the team at the Ian Schrager Hotels. After this he spent several years working in numerous chefs jobs across the globe and helped to develop various restaurant and bar concepts in London, Miami and New York.
