Adam Reid has been awarded the head chef job at The French restaurant in Manchester, it has been announced.

The fine dining establishment officially opened at The Midland Hotel earlier this week and is run by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan.

Reid joins the restaurant after gaining experience in various chef jobs over the past decade, including being senior sous chef at Brockencote Hall in Worcestershire, as well as working at the Bridgewater Hall and the Michelin-starred Chester Grosvenor hotel.

His new position will see him work alongside Rogan, the two Michelin-starred chef of Cumbria’s L’Enclume, which was recently awarded a rare 10/10 score from the Good Food Guide.

Commenting on his new chefs job, Reid said: “I feel really honoured to be working alongside someone like Simon. I grew up in Manchester so I have always loved the city, and I’m delighted to be part of one if it’s most iconic restaurants.

“Simon has a very unique style, and I was really lucky to spend a considerable amount of my training at L’Enclume, where we worked together on the menu. With Simon’s guidance, I want to continue his great work with the support of a strong chef brigade here at the Midland.”

Also joining The French, which has received rave reviews since its recent launch, is Kamila Plonska who will become the new restaurant manager.

Originally from Poland, Plonska spent three years working as assistant restaurant manager at L’Enclume and has also gained experience in hospitality and catering jobs at a series of acclaimed restaurants in Sweden and Denmark.

She commented: “When Simon offered me the opportunity to move to Manchester and manage the French, I didn’t think twice about accepting. My job heading up the front-of-house team is to ensure guests enjoy a high level of service and attention which cannot be found in any other restaurant in the city.”
